Idea
The vision for IRIS was to elevate the venue beyond a conventional bar and lounge into a fully immersive environment — one where every surface, every light, and every transition between spaces contributes to the atmosphere. The Monolith team drew on the brand's signature triangular motif, translating it into large-scale backlit geometric screen panels that frame the entrance corridor and flood the space with a warm, patterned glow. The result is an arrival sequence that immediately signals to guests that they are entering somewhere extraordinary.
Conceptualization and Planning
Design Process
The renovation was planned across two distinct zones: the interior lounge and the open-air rooftop terrace. The interior was designed around drama and contrast — polished dark concrete floors, glowing lattice screens, and a deep, moody ceiling treatment that draws the eye inward. The rooftop terrace was conceived as the counterpoint: open, airy, and vibrant, with a steel pergola structure, warm pendant lighting clusters, and flexible seating arrangements that transition effortlessly from sunset dining to late-night lounging.

Design Process
Monolith executed the full renovation scope, including the bespoke backlit triangular screen panels at the entrance, all joinery and bar counter elements, ceiling treatments, and the complete rooftop terrace structure and fit-out. The exterior entrance facade was finished in large-format white marble-effect stone with bold three-dimensional signage, creating a strong street presence that is immediately recognizable. Every detail — from the rattan lounge furniture and amber pendant lights on the terrace to the geometric patterning carried consistently throughout — was curated to deliver a cohesive, high-energy identity that sets IRIS apart in Abu Dhabi's hospitality scene.
